ENTRY 5: Revolution of Technology in Proton Car 1985-2015

Proton Holdings Berhad (stylised PROTON) is a Malaysian automobile manufacturer. It is headquartered in Shah AlamSelangor and operates an additional manufacturing plant in Tanjung MalimPerak. Proton is a Malay acronym for Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sendirian Berhad. (National Automobile Company Private Limited).

The concept of a National Car was first conceived in 1979 by Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia with the goal of enhancing Malaysian industry.

The National Car Project was approved by the Cabinet in 1982, leading to the official founding of Proton on 7 May 1983.

Proton approached Mitsubishi Motors between 1983 and 1984 and brokered a joint venture between both companies for the production of the first Malaysian car. The result of the collaboration was the Proton Saga, which launched on 9 July 1985.

It was based on the second generation 1983 Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore 4-door saloon and powered by a 1.3-litre Mitsubishi Orion 4G13 engine. The first Proton Saga to roll off the production line in Shah Alam is preserved in the Muzium Negara as a symbol of the beginning of the Malaysian automotive industry.
Sales of the new Saga outstripped supply and Proton struggled to meet the growing demand, but by mid-1986 it had captured a 64% majority domestic market share in the Below 1600cc segment.

Together with revolution in information technology to millennium year, automotive industry specifically our 1st National Car: Proton don't wants left behind in automotive industry. From year 1985 until now all combination of new technology can be view in new model of IRIZ such as:

  • Sets the stage for more complex learning tasks
  • Increases multi-tasking (although this may not be simplifying)
  • Global networking
  • Creates denser social circles
  • Cheap price
In other ways, technology complicates life:
  • Pollution is a serious problem in a technologically advanced society.
  • The increase in transportation technology has brought congestion in some areas.
  • Techniques
  • New forms of danger existing as a consequence of new forms of technology, such as the first generation of nuclear reactors.
  • New forms of entertainment, such as video games and internet access could have possible social effects on areas such as academic performance.
  • Increases probability of diseases and disorders, such as obesity.
  • Social separation of singular human interaction. Technology has increased the need to talk to more people faster.

ENTRY2: #liveupdate Intranets vs. Extranets, + Internet #ILOVEMYJOB

“Sometimes we’re required to deliver job function on time whenever & wherever (in the class at UITM + Sunday morning pun boleh=).”
Technology is easing our jobs. Even we’re not in working hours, not in the office even we’re in vacation. How?
#zilsicelikit
Source: Insta #zilsicelikit

In the Office = INTRANET
While in the office, we’re connected through intranet device to communicate between organization members (email, log on to system & etc.). It’s only limited access, using Internet web protocol, software & server. As examples via company WIFI (if using authorizes WIFI excess we can direct access to the system (SAP) or Microsoft Outlook Email) or via LAN and WAN (to interlink/integrated information with nationwide branches).

What if we’re not in the office? Can we connect to the system? Can we access to email?

Answers:

Out from Office = EXTRANETS
Extranets (extended Intranet) allows controlled access from outside of an organization's intranet. But we need to have authorization to Virtual private network (VPN) is to link Intranets in different location over Internet.

DEMO (this is sample #liveupdate):

#zilsicelikit
Demo: VPN login by #zilsicelikit
  1. 1st must have internet access
  2. Login to VPN through [FortiClient SSLVPN]. Enter User Name & Password (it’s using specific ID & password by individual staff). To have VPN access must get approval from Head of Department (HOD) to prevent of misuse. Of course akan di approve lagi2 you’re using system & required to perform job wherever & whenever =).  Stakat email to, we have option to use personal email (tapi tak advisable la).
  3. Click CONNECT & Select YES option for Security Alert
  4. Then can use system, email etc. even not in the office.
Technology advancement is AWESOME!!!

Advantages
The computers and servers can communicate much faster than they could over the internet.
Useful for sharing information throughout an organization while still keeping it private.
Inexpensive to use (once it is set up).

Disadvantages
It is an evolving technology that requires upgrades and could have software incompatibility problems
Security features can be inadequate
Maintaining content can be time consuming

Simple layman explanation by Zil’s Cik Celik IT:

Out from Office = EXTRANETS
1)      Computer/ Laptops
2)      Internet Connection
3)      VPN access (User ID & Password)
4)      Then we can access system & office Microsoft Outlook Email

ENTRY1: omg PANIC!!!, Mr. Panic Button Help Me

Last 2 week after “gelak2 pecah perut” in 1st class of Prof Madya Dr. Norzaidi http://norzaidi.blogspot.com/, I’m gone to SETIA CITY MALL (SCM), to enjoy shopping with GST price =)

But, I’m PANIC!!! =’(, coz our assignment is to create blog with the post related to Information Technology Management for subject  MIS750 (I’m continue study MBA at UITM, Shah Alam- FYI je. Untuk sape2 yg tak tau. Bukan niat dihati utk riak=) peace yo!!!

Of course I’m PANIC!!! Coz I’m “Cik Zila Si Celik IT”. Hahahahhaha… okey this is “ayat” positive. Actually it’s “Cik Zila Si Bute IT”. My success story for today I’m already menzahir kan ayat “Cik Zila Si Celik IT” by creating my own blog http://zilsicelikit.blogspot.com/ ….. yehhhhhh!!!!!

Back to last 2 week story at SCM, PANIC!!! Coz I’m not really IT expert. In the mood of PANIC!!! Went to toilet I see below object:

Idea is coming=): Introducing Mr. Panic Button.

What is Panic button?

  • Electronic device designed to assist in alerting somebody in emergency situations (now it’s located at petrol station, toilet & car park at shopping mall)
  • For the whole of 2012, a total of 177 crime cases were reported in shopping mall car parks nationwide which included eight snatch thefts, 10 robberies, 44 molests and 115 motorcycle thefts” http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2012/07/14/Shopping-mall-enhances-security-by-installing-panic-buttons-throughout-car-park/
  • Crime in Car Parks at Shopping Mall: Condolence to the family members. http://www2.bharian.com.my/articles/Kematiantragis/Article/
  • Can be connected to a monitoring center or locally via a silent alarm or an audible bell/siren (not sure at SCM toilet either its monitor center or silent alarm or bell- nak test buat experiment tekan tak boleh nanti kene tangkap bayar dende RM 1,000=))
  • In this SCM its request emergency assistance from local police- within 10 seconds + to the exact location (W.O.W so impress!!!)
How its work?

Truly Malaysian intellectual property using:
1) Robust wireless technology: transfer of information between two or more points that are not connected by an electrical conductor.
2) Internet: global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to link several billion devices worldwide. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet
3) GSM platform: Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM): Transmission of basic data services such as SMS (Short Message Service). http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/html/what-is-gsm.html

Simple layman explanation by Zil’s Cik Celik IT:
Muke Acah2 Prof.Zil'sSiCelikIT
  1. Panic button/ mobile emergency device been press
  2. Sent signal (wireless of course internet connection available 24-7)
  3. Security/ Police will get notification + location coordination via SMS (at this stage GSM take place)
  4. Rescue
